Ah, The Feeling of Nudity!

No, you silly! I don't mean a naked human figure typically used as the subject of a painting like in Titanic! I'm talking about lip-smacking, sexy feeling, gorgeous looking, totally happening, NUDE lipstick! This season has surely been THE season for nude lipstick! So, if you haven't jumped on the wagon yet, now is your time!

Nude lipsticks can be a bit tricky. If you go too dark for your skin tone you might end up looking like you have my dog's poop on your face, even if you don't  necessarily pick a brown shade. Go too light and you'll end up looking like a ghost!  Also don't forget that nude lipstick is not limited to shades of tan and beige and it is not always matte either. Think outside the box. The color that you see on Kylie Jenner is not necessarily going to look the same on your skin tone. However, another color may have the same effect that you want! Before you run into MAC begging for KylieJennerLips (yes, its one word nowadays), read the post below to pick which shades may work best for your skin tone!

Since MAC lipsticks are the widely used, I will be using their line as an example!

Skin Tone - Alabaster: Cate Blanchett, Nicole Kidman

Skin tones that are very fair should opt for a more of a pink based nude color. If you choose something too beige you may end up looking ghostly! Also, try to choose something with sheer or luminosity. Anything matte may look too stark with a milky complexion. MAC Creamesheen lipstick in "Creme Cup" has the perfect hint of pink for alabaster skin tones!

Skin Tone - Fair: Taylor Swift, Fergie

Women with fair skin tone, should opt for a color still in the "pink" family to best compliment them. That being said, you can still pull off a little more of a nude touch than those with lighter skin. Think MAC Lustre lipstick in "Plink!"

Skin Tone - Light/Medium with yellow undertone: Charlize Theron, Megan Fox.

Those with similar skin tones to Ms. Theron can pull off nude lipsticks very well! Go for a warmer shades of nude such as MAC "Cherish" and you will be turning heads with your nudity! bahaha!

Skin Tone - Medium/Olive: Eva Mendes, Jennifer Lopez
Those with Medium skin and warmer olive tones can really go for any nude tone, just be careful with the shade you choose. Go too light and you look like the picture of JLO below! (YIKES!) .  Go too dark and you might end up matching your skin or looking too heavy.  Try a deep tone beige such as MAC's matte shade in "Velvet Teddy." This color is one of my faves and definitely my go-to lip color!
Uh...whatever is going on here with JLO, I hope it was a joke.
Who was the awful friend who let her walk out the door like this? They should be fired from life.

Skin Tone - Medium Dark: Rihanna, Beyonce

Think "sunny golden pink" to get the perfect lip color for women with medium skin tones. MAC Tinted Lipglass in "Nymphette" is the perfect shade! The gold sheen on your skin tone..ugh I die!

 Skin Tone-Dark: Lupita Nyon’o, Oprah

How gorgeous does Lupta look with those glossy nude lips! Adding that lustrous shine looks stunning on darker skin tones. With MAC "Loose and Lively" you will get the perfect amount of definition while the lighter-than-your-skintone color will brighten up your whole face!

  1. I'm so proud of you, I could cry! First, because it's so easy and friendly to read- for someone like me, I love everything girly but anything other than some lipstick, blush and mascara and I start getting intimidated but I find it super easy to relate to and easy to apply to my own life. So, I love it. However; more importantly, I'm proud of you for going after what you want to do and what you feel passionate about and pursuing it as unapologetically as you have. It's a beautiful and admiring thing to watch, even though it doesn't surprise me for one second coming from you.

    I love you! It's magic.
