StyleWeek Northeast

February was such a hectic but amazing month and I missed you all so much! I'm finally back to bring you up to date and boy am I excited to tell you about my experience at Style Week!

StyleWeek Northeast is a fashion show held in Providence, RI, which showcases seasoned and emerging designers from all over! Some of the most celebrated designers include Project Runway finalist Jonathan Joseph Peters and my personal favorite, PINI.

In its twelfth season, sponsored by Imperial Pearl, I was given the fortunate opportunity to do the makeup of the models before they hit the runway and needless to say, I had the time of my life! The ability to use my creative mind and collaborate with the designers and hairstylist to bring this fashion show to life was incredibly rewarding. OH! And I also got to meet Olivia Culpo! (Proof with picture below! haha! )

Standing in front of the StyleWeek offices, portfolio in hand, waiting for my interview!
Even though its an artist interview, I always choose a professional outfit over an artsy one

Though we tried to stay organized, backstage was absolute (but beautiful) chaos. Gorgeous, leggy models running around trading shoe sizes, hairstylists teasing and curling covered in clouds of hairspray, makeup artists with half their hands covered in glitter and the other half in various hues of blues, yellows, and oranges... the designers crazily pinning and re-pinning the final touches of their masterpiece, organizers swiftly pacing back and forth queuing music and lights....

And yet, within all of that chaos, I felt so incredibly calm, comfortable, and happy. Maybe it's because I have spent my entire life performing with a traveling dance company and have become immune the fast pace of the back of house...or maybe because I felt like this was exactly where I belonged. Either way, I soaked in every minute and embraced every second! My warmest thanks to the entire team at Style Week that made my experience so memorable and a special thank you to Holly Dalton who designed and led each and every look with inspiration, patience and grace!  I cannot wait to do it again -September 2016!

Day 1: Me with two of the models I worked with! Yes, they were bending down! haha!!

This was super fun to create! I used makeup adhesive and gold leaf foil from a craft store to bring this look to life!

The inspiration for this look was "1920's party girl gets stuck in the rain!"
Flapper style eyebrows, lots of smudged liner and mascara, and of course glitter!

To create this masked look, we used metallic blue and silver Temptu airbrush!

To create this doll-like look,  I really chiseled out her cheekbones and kept a strong highlight.
Using long individual false lashes on the top and bottom, I was able to create a fixed gaze look.
